A woman, aged 61, is currently hospitalized with severe injuries after being hit by a school bus on the busy Burlington Skyway.
According to a recent update from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, the incident occurred around midnight when the woman’s vehicle broke down in an active lane of traffic.
Upon exiting her car and standing next to a concrete wall, the woman was struck by the school bus as it collided with her vehicle, as reported by the police.
Sgt. Schmidt confirmed that the woman sustained serious injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the 36 students, three teachers, or the bus driver.
Following the collision between the school bus and the car, which subsequently struck the woman on the highway, a portion of the Burlington Skyway was temporarily closed for investigation but has since been reopened.
