Conservation authorities in British Columbia have recently apprehended four additional grizzly bears as part of an ongoing investigation into a potential attack on a school group. The bears are currently undergoing testing to determine any connection to the incident that occurred last month.
According to a statement released by the provincial conservation service on Wednesday, the four bears were safely captured overnight, and samples are being gathered for analysis.
In a positive turn of events, it was confirmed that four other grizzlies captured in Bella Coola the previous week were not linked to the attack and were subsequently released back into the wild.
During the incident last month, three children and a teacher sustained serious injuries while on a field trip. The group of 20 was having lunch when the bears approached.
As a safety measure, the relocated bears have been placed in a secure location within their natural habitat, away from the community. GPS collars are being utilized to track their movements post-release, ensuring their well-being as they prepare for winter hibernation.
