“Relief Robbery: Vital Donations for Jamaica’s Hurricane Victims Stolen in Mississauga, Police Investigate”

Peel Regional Police are looking into a case where a container filled with aid for Jamaican hurricane victims was stolen from a storage facility in Mississauga. The theft took place at 3805 Nashua Drive, near Derry Road East and Goreway Drive, before dawn on a recent Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the vehicle carrying the relief donations had been left at the storage site a few days before December 3. The theft was discovered by the complainant at around 5 a.m. that day. Investigators noticed signs of forced entry on the facility’s gates, indicating a break-in. Currently, there are no leads on any suspects, and the authorities are actively investigating the incident.

The donations that were stolen were meant to help those affected by Hurricane Melissa, a devastating Category 5 storm that hit Jamaica on October 28. The storm has resulted in the confirmed deaths of at least 45 individuals, with numerous others still unaccounted for. Over 25,000 residents have been displaced and are seeking refuge in emergency shelters.
