The TTC’s newest transit line, Line 6 Finch West, is all set for its maiden voyage, departing from Finch West station at 7:20 a.m. this Sunday. The official opening to the public is scheduled for Dec. 7, with initial trips reserved for special guests and the media.
The westbound inaugural journey will start from Norfinch Oakdale Station at 7:33 a.m., while the eastbound trip will commence from Jane and Finch station at 7:47 a.m. This new line boasts 18 stops along Finch Avenue West, connecting Finch West Station on Line 1 Yonge-University with Humber Polytechnic’s North Campus.
During its “soft opening” phase, Line 6 will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays. Temporary early closings are planned for extended maintenance, with shuttle buses running between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.
Passengers can expect trains to arrive every six and a half minutes during peak hours and every 10 to 12 minutes at other times. Fare payment on board Line 6 vehicles is not available; riders must pay on the platform using Presto, credit, debit cards, or a single-ride vending machine for cash transactions.
To accommodate Line 6, adjustments to bus routes have already been made, with Line 36C Finch West being replaced by the new service. Various existing routes will now connect to Line 6, enhancing accessibility for commuters.
In celebration of the grand opening, the TTC will offer riders the opportunity to collect Line 6 souvenirs, including ride guides, vehicle cutouts, and commemorative coins.
