Canadian Tire has unveiled its latest collection just in time for the holiday season, showcasing the beloved Hudson’s Bay stripes on various products. Excited shoppers were eager to get their hands on these iconic items when they were released on Friday morning.
However, for those hoping to snag one of the classic woolen blankets or caribou throws in-store over the weekend, the chances may be slim. Disappointed online shoppers have been expressing their dismay at missing out on purchasing these popular items, as stores quickly sold out due to limited quantities.
One Canadian Tire store in the Vancouver area reportedly sold out within an hour, leaving many like shopper Delee Hammond unable to see the blankets in person. Despite missing out on a purchase, Hammond expressed her appreciation for the collection, noting its significance in Canadian history.
The collection also features other items adorned with the iconic Bay stripes such as mugs, mittens, sheets, and Christmas decorations, which were still available hours after the stores opened. For those determined to wrap themselves in the stripes before the weekend, fleece throws may still be in stock, and woolen blankets can also be purchased online.
Hudson’s Bay point blankets have a rich history dating back to the 1600s, with the current version showcasing green, red, yellow, and blue stripes dating back to 1779. Canadian Tire’s acquisition of the Hudson’s Bay intellectual property in May for $30 million included the brand, its signature stripes motif, coat of arms, and other trademarks.
As the holiday season approaches, many are wondering if more woolen blankets or caribou throws will be restocked in time for Christmas. 1130 NewsRadio has reached out to Canadian Tire for further details on this matter.
