“Luigi Mangione’s Pretrial Hearing Hits Unexpected Snag: Day 4 Delayed Due to Sudden Illness, Judge Confirms”

Luigi Mangione’s pretrial hearing to exclude evidence in his state murder case was delayed due to his illness, as announced by his lawyers and the judge. The hearing is set to continue on Monday.

In a bid to prevent the inclusion of a gun, notebook, and other items allegedly found in his possession during his arrest in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Mangione, who pleaded not guilty to state and federal murder charges, aims to suppress evidence and statements provided to the police.

The evidence in question, including a handgun matching the murder weapon, notebook entries indicating his grievances towards health insurers, and his use of a fake name linked to the crime, is crucial to the prosecution’s case against Mangione, who is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan.

Thompson, 50, was fatally shot on his way to an investor conference. While the hearing is ongoing, details of the prosecutors’ arguments for admitting the contested evidence have not been disclosed.
