Montreal Crackdown: Police Seize $385K in Drugs, Bust Major Trafficking Ring!

Montreal authorities have thwarted a significant drug trafficking scheme following the arrest of two individuals and the confiscation of approximately $385,000 worth of illegal substances in a series of well-coordinated raids last week.

The Montreal Police (SPVM) orchestrated the crackdown on November 29, targeting various sites in both the Ville-Marie borough and the municipality of Granby. A substantial haul of illicit drugs was uncovered, including around 14 kilograms of cocaine, 30,000 amphetamine tablets, and 15 kilograms of hashish. In addition, officers seized a Glock 17 handgun, ammunition, and $27,000 in Canadian currency.

The apprehended suspects, identified as 37-year-old Cody Ditcham-Couture and 31-year-old Gabriel Boulais, were promptly taken into custody and brought before the Montreal courthouse on the same day. They are facing a slew of charges, such as drug possession for trafficking, money laundering, possession of counterfeit money, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and unauthorized firearm possession. Both individuals are currently detained while legal proceedings are underway.

The operation was spearheaded by the SPVM’s Multisectoral Firearms Team (EMAF) for the East Region, with assistance from specialized units and local police precincts throughout the city.

Law enforcement officials are emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in combatting drug trafficking and firearms-related crimes. Individuals with pertinent information are urged to reach out to 911 or their nearest police station.
