Tragic Accident on Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Road Claims Woman’s Life
A devastating accident took place as a vehicle lost control and collided with a lamp post on the road linking Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, as confirmed by the BC RCMP.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday near the Golden Ears Way Bridge overpass on the Lougheed Highway, when authorities were alerted to a lone single-vehicle crash.
Eyewitnesses reported that a red Toyota RAV4 heading northbound at the location veered out of control and struck a light standard, leading to severe injuries for the sole adult female occupant. Despite valiant efforts by witnesses and emergency responders to save her, the woman tragically passed away at the scene.
Authorities suspect that speed played a role in the crash.
