Late on Saturday night, a tragic discovery was made in Longueuil, in the Montérégie region, as authorities found a body under a balcony following a fire incident.
According to Const. Jacqueline Pierre, spokesperson for the Longueuil police, the Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL) responded to a call for assistance from the Service de sécurité incendie de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SSIAL) just before 11 p.m. The fire occurred under the balcony of an abandoned building on Saint-Charles Street West.
Upon arrival, the SSIAL team discovered the lifeless body of an individual.
Regrettably, the victim was declared deceased at the scene, and their identity remains a mystery.
Const. Pierre mentioned, “The cause and details of this incident are still unknown as the investigation is in its early stages.” As a result, Saint-Charles Street West was closed off to traffic between Saint-Jean Street and Saint-Sylvestre Street for investigative purposes.
