Four teenagers have been apprehended by police following a thwarted robbery plot at Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga. The youths, armed with hammers and clad in all-black attire, were spotted in the mall on Dec. 3. Mall security and a paid-duty police officer intervened, leading to one arrest while the others fled in a stolen vehicle. Thankfully, no injuries or theft occurred within the mall premises.
Law enforcement swiftly intercepted the stolen Honda CR-V, preventing a potential high-speed pursuit. The remaining suspects attempted to escape on foot but were soon captured by officers. The teens, aged between 14 and 17, cannot be named due to legal restrictions.
Further investigations have connected the group to a similar incident in York Region earlier that day. The suspects were allegedly involved in an unsuccessful robbery attempt at a jewellery store in Vaughan. The teens are facing multiple charges, including robbery, possession of stolen property, and wearing disguises with criminal intent.
