Breaking: Woman Critically Injured as Fierce 2-Alarm Fire Engulfs South Etobicoke Apartment

A blaze broke out at an apartment building in south Etobicoke, leaving a 46-year-old woman with serious injuries. The incident occurred at 1 Summerhill Road, near Lake Shore Boulevard West, around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Emergency responders swiftly tackled the two-alarm fire that originated in a second-floor apartment. The woman sustained second-degree burns and was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.

According to District Chief David Quinn, the fire likely sparked from incense in the bedroom, leading to the woman’s injuries when attempting to extinguish it.

Fortunately, the fire was contained to the second-floor unit, and all evacuated residents were eventually permitted to return to their homes.
