Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently looking into a potential road rage shooting incident that led to the temporary closure of a busy section of Highway 401 during the night.
The event took place between 1:30 and 1:40 a.m. on Monday, specifically on the westbound lanes of Highway 401 spanning from Guelph Line to Highway 6 South.
Reports from the OPP Highway Safety Division reveal that two vehicles were part of the situation: a dark sedan suspected to be the vehicle of interest and a red Hyundai with two passengers. Investigators discovered bullet holes on the driver’s side of the Hyundai, although thankfully, no injuries were sustained.
To facilitate a thorough investigation, law enforcement shut down the westbound lanes of Highway 401 within the vicinity. This closure is anticipated to persist until 7 a.m. on Monday.
Authorities are requesting individuals who witnessed the incident or possess dashcam footage from the region to reach out to Cambridge OPP.
The inquiry is currently ongoing.
