A young man from Quebec is facing a range of charges linked to human trafficking in Calgary, as confirmed by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT).
Xavier Hébert, aged 22, was apprehended by ALERT Calgary’s Human Trafficking Unit in collaboration with the Calgary Police Service (CPS) last week. He had recently relocated to Calgary following a stint in prison in Quebec related to a human trafficking case dating back to 2021.
According to authorities, Hébert had shifted to Calgary with intentions of engaging in sex and drug trafficking. Staff Sgt. Gord MacDonald from ALERT stated, “ALERT’s investigation uncovered the suspect’s attempt to enter into sex and drug trafficking in Calgary. Our team acted swiftly to arrest him and prevent further victimization.”
During the operation, two potential victims were identified and offered necessary support services.

A search of Hébert’s residence in the Beltline area led to the discovery of evidence pointing to drug trafficking. Law enforcement confiscated small quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine, along with a replica handgun.
Hébert faces charges including benefiting from sexual services, soliciting sexual services, promoting sexual services, drug trafficking, possessing drugs for trafficking, and keeping proceeds from criminal activities.
Hébert is currently in custody and is set to appear in court on Wednesday.
Additionally, an acquaintance of Hébert’s named Vincent Houle was also apprehended at the residence. The 18-year-old is charged with possession of drugs for trafficking, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, and possession of a counterfeit credit card.
