“Mayor Chow Vows to Accelerate Line 6 Finch West LRT Project in Response to Rising Public Frustration”

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow is actively addressing concerns from TTC riders who find the new Line 6 Finch West LRT to be slower than expected. Admitting that the train is not operating at its optimal speed, Chow expressed her commitment to enhancing the service during a recent city hall meeting.

Despite the initial excitement surrounding the launch of the Line 6 Finch West LRT, reports of a leisurely journey between Finch West subway station and Humber College station have dampened spirits. Commuters have voiced dissatisfaction over the 11-kilometre, 18-stop route taking nearly an hour to complete.

In response to these complaints, Chow announced plans to propose measures at the council meeting this week. These actions include advocating for transit signal priority, lifting speed restrictions where feasible, and improving service frequency to expedite travel for passengers.

While specific details on the proposed changes were not disclosed, Chow assured that the motion would be made public by Thursday. She also revealed discussions with the TTC chair and CEO, indicating collaborative efforts to address the speed concerns and enhance the overall LRT experience for commuters.
