“Brampton Man Devastated: Tragic Blaze Claims Lives of 5 Family Members”

A devastating house fire in Brampton has left a man facing unimaginable loss. Jugraj Singh, a truck driver, was away at work in North Carolina when flames engulfed the rental property where his family resided. Tragically, five family members, including his newborn son, perished in the blaze on Banas Way. Singh’s pregnant wife narrowly escaped by jumping from a window, sustaining severe injuries. Despite an emergency c-section, their newborn son did not survive. Singh’s five-year-old son and two brothers-in-law were also injured in the fire.

Singh’s son and wife are currently undergoing treatment in hospital, with the young boy facing a long road to recovery. Singh praised his wife’s bravery for saving their son and herself during the chaotic escape from the burning home. The family, described as close-knit and happy, is now grappling with the aftermath of the tragedy.

The community has shown immense support, with a GoFundMe campaign raising nearly $120,000 to aid the family in rebuilding their lives. Singh expressed gratitude for the outpouring of assistance, acknowledging that while life will never be the same, they hope to find the strength to start anew.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with authorities stating that there is currently no indication of criminal activity. The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is looking into the incident, noting that fire alarms were present in the home but it is uncertain if they were operational. The house has since been demolished, and inquiries into the property’s compliance with city regulations have surfaced, highlighting potential safety oversights by the absentee landlord.
