“Highway Havoc: Major Truck Accident Shuts Down Highway 50 in Mirabel”

A serious crash between a vehicle and a truck early Wednesday morning has resulted in two people being injured, with one in critical condition. The incident took place on Highway 50 near Mirabel in the Laurentians, leading to the closure of the highway in both directions.

The collision occurred around 5:30 a.m. near kilometer 272, at a section of the highway with only one lane in each direction and no separation barrier. The 28-year-old male driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and is currently in critical condition, while the truck driver suffered minor injuries.

Authorities from Sûreté du Québec (SQ) have not ruled out any possible causes for the crash, citing challenging weather and road conditions at the time of the incident. To facilitate emergency response efforts and allow for a thorough investigation, Highway 50 has been completely shut down to traffic between Exit 272 and the Route 148 entrance.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution on the roads due to the forecasted heavy snowfall of approximately 15 centimeters expected in the greater Montreal area throughout the day.
