Nanaimo RCMP Launch Homicide Probe After Woman Found Dead

The Nanaimo RCMP has initiated a homicide inquiry in connection with the disappearance and tragic death of a 65-year-old woman.

Sherry Shelley’s lifeless body was found on November 14, the same day she was reported missing.

Her remains were located close to a burning vehicle in a wooded area adjacent to Highway 19, near Westwood Lake.

As of now, law enforcement has not disclosed any details about a potential suspect or the circumstances surrounding her death.

Authorities are now appealing to the public for any surveillance or dashcam footage that may have captured Shelley’s white Volkswagen Tiguan SUV between 11:00 p.m. on November 13 and 3:00 a.m. on November 14.

The RCMP is encouraging anyone in possession of relevant footage to reach out to the police.
