“Quebec Strikes Tentative Deal with Family Doctors to Enhance Healthcare Services”

The Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ) and the Quebec government have come to a preliminary agreement, as announced by the union on Thursday.

During a press conference in Quebec City, Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé revealed that the implementation of Law 2 will be temporarily halted until Feb. 20 to allow for necessary adjustments.

Dubé stated, “I have consistently highlighted the need for refinements to Law 2, and we are taking the time to ensure these adjustments are made.”

He emphasized, “Ultimately, the real benefactors of this resolution are the people of Quebec. Significant efforts have been made, resulting in positive outcomes for Quebecers.”

The FMOQ shared on social media that the agreement was the result of discussions between its president, Dr. Marc-André Amyot, Premier François Legault, and intensive negotiations.

Expressing satisfaction with the agreement, the union referred to it as a “significant stride in the current climate.”

While specific details of the preliminary agreement are yet to be disclosed, they will be presented initially to family doctors through webinars scheduled for Friday. Subsequently, FMOQ members will vote on the agreement, with the outcome expected to be determined “promptly.”
