Several traffic lights along Westminster Highway and Gilbert Road in Richmond went dark on Wednesday afternoon due to a brief power outage. The incident impacted approximately 3,000 BC Hydro customers in the area. Fortunately, power was successfully restored to Richmond by the evening.

While the outage occurred, Richmond Hospital relied on backup generators to ensure uninterrupted operations, according to BC Hydro officials. Despite ongoing investigations, a spokesperson mentioned to 1130 NewsRadio that the exact cause of the outage remains unknown.
