Tragic Incident: Elderly Woman Found Unconscious in Snow, Dies in Hospital
An unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday morning in Longueuil, as an 84-year-old woman passed away after being discovered unconscious by a diligent snowplow operator on a quiet neighborhood street.
Shortly before 8:30 a.m., Mélanie Marcille, spokesperson for Longueuil police (SPAL), sadly confirmed that the senior woman had succumbed to her condition at the hospital.
The woman, identified by authorities as “vulnerable,” was found in a distressed state by the observant snowplow operator at around 3:15 a.m. in the vicinity of Labonté Street, near Jacques-Cartier Blvd. west and Chemin de Chambly. She was underdressed for the harsh weather and was lying in the cold snow.
The operator promptly contacted emergency services, who rushed to the scene. Before their arrival, the kind-hearted man attempted resuscitation efforts in a bid to save the woman.
In a related development, it was revealed that the woman had been under the supervision of family members at a nearby residence, though she reportedly ventured out on her own. The circumstances surrounding her departure remain unclear at this time.
This poignant incident comes on the heels of another tragic case where an 88-year-old woman was discovered deceased outside a seniors’ residence in Laval just days earlier.
Let us reflect on the importance of looking out for our vulnerable loved ones and ensuring their safety and well-being.
