Mont-Sainte-Anne Opening Delayed: Ski Lift Shutdown Throws Wrench in Winter Plans

The Mont-Sainte-Anne ski resort in Beaupré, Quebec, has made the tough decision to delay its opening date due to the closure of four key ski lifts by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ).

Originally set to welcome visitors this Saturday, the resort faced setbacks when the RBQ ordered the shutdown of the Express du Nord, Express du Sud, Étoile filante, and Panorama Express lifts after inspections on Wednesday uncovered issues with the high-voltage network that powers the resort’s infrastructure.

The RBQ emphasized that the underground electrical network failure posed significant safety risks to guests and staff, leading to the urgent closure of the lifts. They also noted past violations that contributed to the necessity of immediate action to avoid potential harm.

In response, Mont-Sainte-Anne took to social media to announce the postponement and promised to provide updates on the situation by Monday. The RBQ stated that for the lifts to resume operations, the resort must meet specific conditions outlined by the regulatory authority.
