“Fraser Valley Braces for More Deluges as Wet Weather Continues to Pound Flood-Weary B.C.”

Flood concerns persist in B.C.’s Fraser Valley with more rain ahead, according to Environment Canada’s latest forecast.

Despite the rescinding of several evacuation alerts in Abbotsford over the weekend, the region is bracing for another round of heavy rain starting on Monday and lasting into the early part of next week.

In neighboring Chilliwack, authorities are cautioning residents about potential river swelling that could lead to localized flooding, though not to the extent seen earlier.

As water levels recede, Abbotsford was able to lift evacuation alerts for 1,069 properties in Sumas Prairie West and Sumas Prairie East, transitioning some evacuation orders to alerts and permitting certain residents to return home.

Although progress has been made, evacuation orders are still in effect for 325 properties in Sumas Prairie.
