Over the weekend, a tragic incident unfolded in Montreal’s Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie area as a tent fire claimed the life of a man in his 30s.
Emergency responders received a distress call at 7:50 a.m. on Sunday alerting them to a fire near Iberville Street and Masson Street. The Montreal Police (SPVM) spokesman, Jean-Pierre Brabant, confirmed the incident.
Upon arrival, firefighters swiftly extinguished the flames and discovered the victim unconscious. Tragically, the man’s passing was confirmed at the scene.
The SPVM’s arson unit has launched a thorough investigation into the fire’s origins and circumstances. Surveillance footage is being reviewed, and an autopsy will be conducted to shed light on the situation.
