Toronto’s bustling shopping street, Yonge Street, was transformed into a magical winter wonderland on Sunday by a team of playful elves from Mars Canada. These whimsical creatures took over the window displays at Hudson’s Bay’s former flagship store, bringing festive cheer to the heart of the city. Mars Canada stepped in to save Toronto’s beloved holiday tradition after the closure of Hudson’s Bay earlier in the year threatened to leave the city without its iconic Christmas windows.
The enchanting scenes created by Mars depict a day in the life of the company’s elves, from sunrise to snowball fights and baking cookies. Each window offers a glimpse into the magical world of Mars, filled with animatronics and festive lights. The experience, named “Wonders of Mars,” will run until Jan. 2, inviting viewers to enjoy the holiday spirit and submit their own wish lists, with Mars pledging to donate $1 to Food Banks Canada for each submission.
Ana Fernandes, the creative mind behind Hudson’s Bay’s past holiday displays, played a key role in bringing the Mars windows to life. With decades of experience in visual presentation, Fernandes worked tirelessly to create captivating and memorable scenes for viewers to enjoy. Mars’ initiative to revive the holiday windows has brought a sense of joy and excitement to the city, ensuring that the tradition continues for years to come.
