“One Magic Moment” Transforms Lives: How Montreal’s Underserved Youth Are Rediscovering Hope in the Heart of the City

Every year in Montreal, 118 children from underserved communities get to experience the joy of the holidays through a special event known as “One Magic Moment.”

This heartwarming initiative aims to give back to these kids who may not have access to such festive celebrations otherwise. Founder John Gumbley, reflecting on his own upbringing in Verdun, emphasizes the importance of giving back and spreading positivity. He believes that by creating one magic moment for these children, they can carry that joy forward into their lives and communities.

For Gumbley, the event is a way to provide opportunities and happiness to kids who may not have much. Event director Jennifer Torres highlights the significance of making these children feel special and acknowledged, with the hope that they will pay it forward in the future.

Among the attendees were youngsters like Elise and Desean, who expressed their excitement and gratitude for the experience. From free food to festive decorations, the event brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

Christina Perri, responsible for decorating and sponsorships, finds fulfillment in seeing the children’s happiness and the positive impact such events can have on those going through difficult times.

Overall, “One Magic Moment” is about creating a lasting impact on these children and inspiring them to spread kindness and joy in their communities.
