“Shocking Survey Reveals 9 Out of 10 Teachers Face Violence in Classrooms”

Teachers Facing High Rates of Violence in Schools
A recent survey has revealed shocking statistics about the prevalence of violence against teachers in schools. According to Catherine Renaud, vice-president of the Fédération autonome de l’enseignement (FAE), 90% of respondents reported being victims of some form of violence. The survey highlighted that 81% experienced psychological or verbal abuse, 63% faced physical abuse, and 11% reported incidents of sexual abuse.

Renaud emphasized that such violence should not be normalized in teachers’ daily lives, as it leads to detrimental effects such as stress, burnout, and depression. The survey also indicated that three out of five teachers who encountered violence are considering leaving the profession.

The issue is not limited to high schools; preschool teachers reported the highest rates of physical violence, with 90% stating they were subjected to it. Renaud stressed the urgent need for action to address this pervasive problem, calling for increased resources and specialized staff to support teachers in managing disruptive behavior effectively.
