Tragic Accident Claims Life of 10-Year-Old in Collision with OPP Cruiser
A heartbreaking incident unfolded east of Perth, Ontario, as a devastating head-on collision involving an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser resulted in the loss of a young life.
The distressing crash took place on Dec. 13 on Highway 7, between Drummond School Road and Drummond Concession 7, just before 4:30 p.m. Reports indicate that an OPP officer, on routine patrol in a marked cruiser, was tragically struck by an oncoming pick-up truck.
The pick-up truck carried three individuals, including the 10-year-old child who was airlifted to a regional trauma center by Air Ornge. Sadly, the child succumbed to their injuries the following day. The other two occupants of the pick-up truck are currently hospitalized with severe injuries.
While the OPP officer involved is on the path to recovery from serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the Lanark County OPP is actively investigating the details of the collision.
Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information or dashcam footage that may help shed light on the tragic incident.
