A Toronto man has been charged with promoting hatred against the Jewish community by distributing flyers, as reported by Toronto police on Tuesday. The incident took place in the Bloor Street West and Lansdowne Avenue area, with officers responding to the complaint on Thursday, January 2.
After an investigation by the Hate Crime Unit, Oliver Couto, 62, from Toronto, was arrested and charged with Willful Promotion of Hatred. The Toronto Police Service sought approval from the Ministry of the Attorney General before laying the charge.
