Toronto authorities have named the victim of a suspected homicide in North York earlier this month. The incident unfolded in the Yonge Street and Kempford Boulevard neighborhood on December 1st.
Responding to a call, police discovered 71-year-old Tatiana Shamalov inside a residence, where she was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead. The circumstances surrounding her death raised suspicions.
A 44-year-old Toronto resident, Imtiaz Ahmed, was apprehended on December 15 and charged with manslaughter in connection to the case. He was set to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Monday.
Shamalov’s death marks the 39th homicide in Toronto for the year 2025.
