Ontario law enforcement agencies are preparing to unveil the results of a comprehensive investigation into organized auto theft, a crime that is said to be fueling criminal operations and posing a threat to community safety in the region.
The press briefing is scheduled for Wednesday morning in Mississauga, where officials will reveal the outcome of a thorough inquiry into a criminal syndicate accused of orchestrating the illegal transportation of stolen vehicles from Canada to foreign countries.
Over the past few years, instances of auto theft have been on the rise in Ontario, prompting concerns from both police and insurance professionals who highlight the growing trend of criminal groups targeting high-end vehicles for international trade.
Among the key figures expected at the press conference are OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique, OPP Detective Inspector Scott Wade, CBSA’s Trishann Pascal, Abeid Morgan from CBSA’s Intelligence and Investigations unit, and Bryan Gast, the National Vice President for Investigative Services at Équité Association.
