The Montreal Canadiens are taking significant steps to combat homelessness in the city with two new initiatives.
For their final home game of 2025 this Saturday, the team is dedicating the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle to the Old Brewery Mission, a longstanding leader in fighting homelessness in Montreal. In addition to the 50/50 event, a coat and boot drive will be held at the Bell Centre before the game.
France Margaret Bélanger, President of Groupe CH Sports and Entertainment, expressed gratitude for the fans’ support in raising funds through the 50/50 raffles. This year, the Canadiens are expanding their community impact by supporting crucial causes like homelessness in Montreal. The team plans to match the funds raised from the 50/50 raffle with a corporate donation and receive additional support from the Mirella and Lino Saputo Foundation.
To participate in the 50/50 raffle, fans can purchase tickets online. Meanwhile, those attending the game are encouraged to bring gently-used winter coats and boots for donation at designated collection points on Canadiens Plaza.
James Hughes, President and CEO of the Old Brewery Mission, commended the Canadiens and their fans for their solidarity and generosity in supporting efforts to combat homelessness. The collected funds and materials will directly aid in providing essential services to those in need.
The upcoming 50/50 raffle on Saturday marks the second of four special events this season. The Canadiens previously held a successful fundraising event for True Patriot Love on Nov. 11, with details on the remaining two raffles to be announced in January.
