Trevor Zegras, playing in his 300th NHL game, extended his goal streak to four games, setting a new career high for the Flyers (17-9-6) who broke a three-game losing streak (0-0-3). Travis Konecny sealed the win with an empty-net goal.
In goal, Dan Vladar made 21 saves to secure the victory for Philadelphia, winning both of his starts this season against the Canadiens at the Bell Centre.
On the Canadiens’ side, Alexandre Texier scored his second consecutive goal, but it wasn’t enough as Montreal (17-12-4) suffered their fourth loss in six games. Rookie goaltender Jacob Fowler made his first career start on home ice, making 17 saves, while Samuel Montembeault was sent to the AHL for a conditioning assignment.
Montreal played without defenseman Mike Matheson, who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. The Canadiens have struggled at home, holding an 8-9-1 record at the Bell Centre this season.
In a key moment, the Flyers capitalized on a mistake by Fowler in the final minute of the second period, extending their lead. Zegras’s goal marked his 14th of the season, surpassing his previous season’s points total.
