The Mission RCMP have issued a warning to the community regarding two reported incidents of attempted abductions.
According to authorities, the first incident occurred between 11 p.m. on December 14 and 1 a.m. on December 15, when a woman walking along Logan Avenue was approached by a driver in a white SUV. The driver allegedly made inappropriate demands towards the woman, and when she refused, he exited the vehicle and assaulted her. Despite her escape, the woman was bear sprayed by the assailant.
In a separate incident on Monday evening, another woman sought help from a bystander on 3rd Avenue, reporting that a man in a white SUV had made similar demands and attempted to pull her towards the vehicle. Fortunately, she managed to escape without serious harm, although she left before speaking with the police.
Both women involved are considered part of a vulnerable community, and it remains uncertain whether they were specifically targeted. The RCMP are urging the public to remain vigilant and watch out for a white SUV associated with the incidents.
The suspect is described as a tall male with a beard, short hair, and tattoos on his arms. While his connection to Mission or any other community is still under investigation, authorities are calling for anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Social service providers have been asked to inform their clients about these incidents and to prompt individuals with similar experiences to report them to the police.
For any information that could aid in the investigation, individuals are encouraged to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161, referencing file 25-15879.
