The Surrey Police Service is currently looking into a collision that occurred between a shuttle bus driver and a pedestrian, resulting in one man being hospitalized on Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, the incident took place at the intersection of 56 Avenue and 180 Street at approximately 5 p.m., prompting a swift response from authorities.
Upon arrival, first responders found a man with minor injuries requiring immediate medical attention. He was subsequently taken to the hospital, where the extent of his injuries is still being evaluated by medical staff.
While the Surrey Police Service referred to the injuries as minor, the BC Emergency Health Services characterized the victim’s condition as serious.
Images from the scene captured a TransLink-branded vehicle at a standstill, with personal belongings scattered on the road.
“The bus driver involved in the collision stayed at the site and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The exact cause of the accident is currently being examined,” mentioned a police spokesperson.
Certain sections of the road were temporarily closed off during the investigation process but have since been reopened for normal traffic flow.
