The Canadian government is set to boost the presence of Canadian French-language programming on digital platforms and globally. Minister Marc Miller recently announced plans to invest in the acquisition of Canadian works in French for broadcast on the TV5MONDEplus platform starting in 2026. This initiative aims to increase the visibility of Canadian artists and producers, promoting their work to a wider international audience.
Moreover, additional funding totaling over $1 million will be provided to TV5 Québec Canada in the upcoming fiscal year to support its broadcasting services. The government has also committed to extending financial support of $8 million over two years to public service media, starting from 2026.
Yann Paquet, President and CEO of TV5 Québec Canada, praised the government’s efforts, emphasizing the importance of promoting French-language content and culture both domestically and abroad. The support is crucial for maintaining the public service mission and fostering a strong ecosystem for French-language content creation across Canada.
