York Regional Police (YRP) is on the lookout for a male suspect linked to a series of break-ins in Newmarket.
According to authorities, there have been six incidents of commercial break-ins where cash registers were targeted.
The spree of break-ins is reported to have started in early December, with the possibility of multiple suspects being involved.
During a recent press statement, YRP highlighted that such crimes often see a rise during the festive season due to extended business hours and increased cash flow.
Described as a white male with a medium build standing between five-foot-ten and six feet tall, the suspect is said to have impaired function in his left hand and a distinctive slow gait.
The suspect was last seen clad in a black jacket, dark pants, black shoes with white soles, white gloves, and a face mask featuring a white design, while carrying a black backpack.
YRP is advising small business owners in Newmarket to exercise extra vigilance around their cash registers and cash boxes.
