Peel Regional Police have reported the arrest of a man who, despite being banned from driving for life, attempted to evade a traffic stop during the annual Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) campaign.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of November 28 at the junction of Britannia Road and Millcreek Drive, adjacent to Queen Street South, where RIDE officers pulled over a vehicle for a routine impairment check.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers detected the smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath and proceeded to ask for a roadside breath sample. However, the driver chose to flee the scene at a high speed instead.
The individual in question, identified as Blair Titterson, a 43-year-old resident of Mississauga, was eventually apprehended by law enforcement. Titterson, who was already banned from driving for life due to previous convictions such as failing to provide a breath sample and driving while under suspension, now faces additional charges.
These new charges include dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fleeing from police, driving while prohibited, and refusing to comply with a breath test demand. Titterson is scheduled to appear in court in relation to these charges.
Peel Regional Police urge anyone with relevant information about the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
