Castle Fun Park Triumphs Over Flood, Remains a Beacon of Joy

Castle Fun Park in Abbotsford Successfully Defends Against Flooding, Ready to Reopen Fully

Castle Fun Park, a cherished establishment in Abbotsford, has emerged relatively unscathed from the recent flood thanks to proactive measures taken following the devastating 2021 flooding episode.

This week, the lights are back on at Castle Fun Park, symbolizing its resilience in the face of adversity. Co-owner Brian Wiebe proudly showcases the fortress-like building, emphasizing that this time, the business has weathered the storm better than in the past.

Wiebe notes, “The water level has receded significantly. In 2021, it would have reached the ceiling by now.”

Surprisingly, the ‘Under the Sea’ mini golf course experienced the most water damage during the recent flood.

The survival of the castle can be attributed to two crucial defenses: a waterproof wall constructed around the premises post-2021 flooding and the unwavering dedication of tireless crews who worked tirelessly to pump out the floodwater.

“We fortified vulnerable areas with a lock block, and our dedicated teams manned the pumps around the clock from the very beginning. Their relentless efforts are what saved us,” Wiebe explains.

Since 2021, Castle Fun Park has been operating at reduced capacity as it continues its rebuilding process. The recent flood has posed a setback to these efforts, but Wiebe remains optimistic that the family entertainment center will fully reopen by December next year.

Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming community support, Wiebe adds, “The outpouring of support from the local community has been incredible. We are eager to reopen and continue creating lasting memories for families across generations. Castle Fun Park is here to stay, and we are committed to growing and improving.”

The arcade area at Castle Fun Park is expected to reopen in the next few days, with the ‘Under the Sea’ course set to return to its former glory on dry land in the weeks to come.
