Elderly Pedestrian Clings to Life Following Harrowing Collision with Car

A 92-year-old woman was seriously injured after a vehicle struck her on Thursday afternoon in the Verdun neighborhood, as reported by Montreal police (SPVM).

SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant stated that at approximately 2 p.m., a collision was reported on Gilberte-Dubé Street near Gaétan-Laberge Boulevard, prompting a swift response from police.

Upon arrival, authorities found the elderly woman lying on the ground and promptly transported her to the hospital in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that a pickup truck traveling south on Gilberte-Dubé Street was involved in the incident, according to SPVM.

The driver, a 42-year-old man, was identified by police, with Brabant confirming that speed and alcohol were ruled out as contributing factors.

The investigation remains active as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision.
