A man has been given a 10-year sentence for his involvement in the tragic death of a 22-year-old woman from Abbotsford in 2017.
Gary Losch has been convicted of manslaughter and received an additional two-year sentence for the mistreatment of human remains, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
The case dates back to July 30, 2017, when Abbotsford police were informed of Chelsey Gauthier’s disappearance. Her body was discovered on August 16, 2017, in Mission near Sylvester and Dale roads, prompting IHIT to take over the investigation.
Losch was charged with second-degree murder and the mistreatment of human remains on September 10, 2022. After a legal process, on July 22, 2025, he was acquitted of second-degree murder but found guilty of manslaughter and mistreatment of human remains.
IHIT has confirmed that Losch’s sentences will be served consecutively.
