“RCMP Uncover Alleged ISIS Terror Plot in Sweeping GTA Hate-Crime Investigation”

Three individuals have been charged by Toronto and Peel police for targeting women and members of the Jewish community, with one of them allegedly collaborating with ISIS to plan terror attacks, as revealed by the RCMP on Friday.

These arrests are part of Project Neapolitan, a collaborative investigation between Toronto and Peel police. The probe was initiated following two incidents believed to be influenced by hate-motivated extremism.

In the first incident on May 31, 2025, in Toronto, three men armed with a handgun and a knife attempted to abduct a woman at the intersection of Don Mills Road and Rochefort Drive. However, they fled when interrupted by a passing motorist.

The second incident occurred on June 24, 2025, in Mississauga, where two women were targeted on Ellesboro Drive. Three men armed with a handgun, a rifle, and a knife chased the victims before fleeing upon being interrupted by a passerby.

The suspects, identified as Waleed Khan, Osman Azizov, and Fahad Sadaat, all from Toronto, are facing a total of 79 charges, including kidnapping, conspiracy to commit sexual assault, and hostage-taking.

The arrests followed the execution of search warrants in Toronto, leading to the seizure of firearms, ammunition, and other incriminating items. The investigation expanded to include hate-motivated offenses, with a focus on women and the Jewish community, and uncovered links to terrorism, resulting in terrorism-related charges against Waleed Khan.

The RCMP, in a separate release, accused Khan of collaborating with ISIS between June 17, 2025, and August 17, 2025, for planning terror attacks. However, the allegations are yet to be tested in court.

CEO of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), Noah Shack, expressed concern over the severity of the threat posed by the Islamic State and its attempts to target women and Jewish Canadians in the Greater Toronto Area. He emphasized the urgent need for decisive actions to address extremist radicalization in Canada to prevent potential mass violence.
