Sun Youth in Montreal is spreading holiday cheer by distributing Christmas baskets to thousands of families in need. The organization’s annual event, held at its Parc Ave. location, is a heartwarming tradition that brings joy to both volunteers and recipients. This year, over 5,000 households will receive essential food items and festive gifts before Sun Youth relocates to a new home on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in January.
Volunteers from the local community, businesses, and the Guignolée des médias have come together to ensure that families facing hardships have a brighter holiday season. Jorgen Ulloa-Aguilar, director of emergency services at Sun Youth, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, emphasizing the impact of volunteers in serving the community.
The holiday distribution not only provides immediate assistance but also symbolizes the ongoing commitment of Sun Youth to support families year-round. Marina Boulos-Winton, executive director designate of the organization, highlighted the importance of offering food security, financial aid during emergencies, and affordable activities for children. Sun Youth’s programs aim to alleviate the stress and worries of vulnerable individuals and families, providing a sense of stability and community support.
As the Christmas basket program draws to a close, Sun Youth prepares to transition to its new location near De Castelnau metro station, promising enhanced accessibility and expanded services. The organization’s reliance on community donations underscores the vital role of public support in sustaining its impactful initiatives.
