Payton Pritchard showcased a stellar performance, recording a double-double with 33 points and 10 assists to lead the short-handed Boston Celtics to a commanding 112-96 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Saturday.
In addition to Pritchard’s standout display, Derrick White contributed 15 points, seven assists, and five rebounds for the Celtics (17-11), who were missing star forward Jaylen Brown due to illness.
On the Raptors’ side, Brandon Ingram put up 24 points and seven assists, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win as Toronto’s two-game winning streak came to an end. Scottie Barnes had an impressive showing with 12 points, nine rebounds, and six assists despite a slow start.
Sandro Mamukelashvili stepped up for the Raptors with a season-high 24 points, sinking six three-pointers as he filled in for the injured Jakob Poeltl.
Notably, the Celtics capitalized on Poeltl’s absence by dominating the rebound battle 55-37 and outscoring the Raptors in the paint 54-32.
In a key moment, Derrick White’s 31-foot three-pointer ignited an 11-4 run early in the fourth quarter, propelling the Celtics to a 94-84 lead that they maintained until the final buzzer.
Despite Jaylen Brown’s absence, Boston displayed sharp shooting from long range, going 12-for-39 (30.8%) on three-point attempts.
Next up, the Raptors will face the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.
