An investigation has been initiated by the Quebec independent investigation bureau following a police intervention in Inukjuak that resulted in two severe injuries.
According to initial reports, gunshots were exchanged during the incident, although the exact cause of the injuries remains unknown at this time. The confrontation involving the Nunavik Police Service occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday.
A team of five independent investigators has been appointed to delve into the case, with plans to arrive in the community soon. This marks the second instance this year that the independent investigation bureau has been called to Inukjuak.
