Montreal Transforms into Winter Wonderland as Snow Blankets City Ahead of Christmas

Cloudy skies and snowy conditions are set to dominate the weather leading up to Christmas, offering a wintry backdrop for the festive season. While there may be a brief respite on Christmas Day itself, overall, cold temperatures and brisk winds will be the norm.

The forecast calls for light snowfall to start this afternoon and carry on into the night, accompanied by winds of up to 15 km/h. With wind chills plunging to as low as minus 20 in the morning and hovering around minus 12 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, the chill in the air will be palpable. Overnight, temperatures are expected to remain steady near minus 7 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead to Tuesday, snowfall is anticipated to continue throughout the day, starting in the morning and accumulating between 2 to 4 centimetres. Northeast winds picking up to 20 km/h will maintain the cold, keeping wind chills around minus 13 degrees Celsius. Wednesday offers a mix of sun and clouds with a daytime high of minus 2 degrees Celsius, but the evening may see a return of cloud cover and possible flurries.

As Christmas Day arrives on Thursday, the skies are predicted to clear, allowing temperatures to rise to a high of minus 2 degrees Celsius. However, with clear conditions overnight, temperatures are expected to plummet to minus 13 degrees Celsius.

Heading into the weekend, cloudy skies persist with a 60% chance of flurries on Friday, carrying over into the weekend with the possibility of more snowfall by Sunday.
