Three Arrested in Connection with Attempted Arson at Montreal Restaurant
Montreal authorities recently apprehended three individuals linked to an attempted arson incident targeting a downtown eatery. The Montreal police disclosed that a pair of men, aged 22 and 24, and a 15-year-old boy were taken into custody in the early hours of December 22 in the Ville-Marie neighborhood. The suspects were allegedly found with materials meant for setting fires and had planned to carry out two arson attacks on a licensed establishment situated on Crescent Street.
As per the SPVM, a concerned citizen dialed 911 around 3:30 a.m. to report two individuals loitering near the restaurant with a container of gasoline. Prompt police action led to the arrests of the two men. Subsequently, another suspect was apprehended an hour later in a nearby alley while carrying a gasoline can.
Following their detention, all three suspects were released with a promise to appear in court and specific conditions.
Authorities are advising business proprietors who have received threats to refrain from yielding and to promptly reach out to the SPVM for an evaluation of the situation and suitable support.
