A tragic incident unfolded in Oshawa on Tuesday, resulting in a fatal stabbing that has led to charges being laid against one man, with another still at large.
According to the Durham Regional Police Service, the authorities were alerted around 4:15 a.m. to a disturbing scene where a man was discovered on the street, displaying evident signs of injury near the intersection of Park Road South and John Street West.
The victim, identified as Jeremy Russell, 44 years old, was rushed to a trauma center in Toronto but, sadly, succumbed to his injuries.
In a significant development, one of the suspects involved in the stabbing has been apprehended. Nicholas Robbins, 33, from Oshawa, is in custody and has been charged with second-degree murder. He is currently awaiting a bail hearing.
However, the search continues for the second suspect, Michael Waterman, aged 44, who is also wanted for second-degree murder. Police emphasize that the victim and both suspects were acquainted with each other.
Authorities have issued a warning regarding Waterman, stating that he is considered armed and dangerous. They advise the public to immediately contact 911 upon sighting him and to refrain from approaching him.
In a plea to Waterman, investigators urge him to seek legal representation and surrender to the police for the ongoing investigation.
