Chilliwack RCMP is currently investigating a tragic single-vehicle crash that occurred at the junction of Yale Road and Banford Road on Boxing Day. The incident involved a 27-year-old man who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. According to police reports, the driver lost control and collided with a power pole just before 10:30 p.m.
Although alcohol is not suspected to have played a role in the crash, excessive speed could have been a contributing factor. Following the collision, the intersection was shut down for several hours for investigation purposes but has now been reopened to the public.
