Police Apprehend Second Suspect in Fatal Oshawa Stabbing, Charges of Murder Filed

A tragic incident unfolded in Oshawa earlier this week, resulting in the death of 44-year-old Jeremy Russell, who was found on the street with multiple stab wounds. The authorities swiftly took action, leading to the arrest of two suspects in connection with the case.

On Wednesday, the Durham Regional Police Service announced the apprehension of 33-year-old Nicholas Robbins from Oshawa, who has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to Russell’s death. Following further investigations, another suspect, 44-year-old Michael Waterman from Peterborough, was identified and sought by the authorities.

After a few days of search, Waterman turned himself in to the police on Friday, leading to his arrest and subsequent charge of second-degree murder. Notably, Waterman is also wanted in connection with another homicide that occurred in Peterborough earlier in the month.

This arrest marked a significant development in the case, as Waterman was one of four suspects wanted in connection with a separate homicide in central Peterborough on December 6. The incident involved the discovery of a fatally injured man inside an apartment building, leading to a series of arrests in the following days.

With the arrest of the final suspect, authorities expressed relief that all individuals believed to be involved in the December 6th homicide are now in custody, ensuring that justice will be served.
