After two decades of dedicated service, the Maman Dion Foundation, which aimed to support underprivileged youth in their academic pursuits, will permanently close its doors this Wednesday. The announcement, made via social media on Monday, expressed gratitude towards the foundation’s sponsors, partners, donors, and volunteers.
Founded in 2005 by Thérèse Tanguay Dion, the foundation sought to empower young Quebecers aged five to 16 from disadvantaged backgrounds by fostering self-esteem, motivation, and academic success. It notably supplied essential school materials, clothing, and eyeglasses to children in need.
Singer Claudette Dion, one of Thérèse Tanguay Dion’s daughters, served as the foundation’s executive director and spokesperson.
Thérèse Tanguay Dion, a mother of 14 children including the renowned Céline Dion, passed away in 2020 at the age of 92.
